Dear Child of God,

Come and let us return to the Lord, for He has torn so that He may heal us; He has stricken so that He may bind us up. (Hosea 6:1)

Sometimes God will allow us to go through situations and circumstances in order to get our attention. I don’t believe that He causes them to happen, but He definitely permits them. There are situations that can shatter everything we once believed was true; circumstances that can tear our heart in two. But sometimes it’s necessary in order for God to get us to the place that He desires, and which is ultimately best for us. 

I remember reading a story about a woman whose arm had broken, but unfortunately it did not heal properly and so her arm was permanently bent. The only solution was to break it once again, so that it could be restored properly. She had to endure that pain but it was for a greater purpose. 

In the same way, the Bible tells us that for the joy set before Him, he endured the cross. 

But many times, we find ourselves in situations unexpectedly, launched upon almost cruelly, wondering why it all had to happen this way. It is in these moments, we must turn to our Great Healer, knowing that only He is able to truly restore. 

Has life torn you apart? Have people or situations struck you down? Do you feel like it’s taking everything you have just not to fall apart? 

Then I want you to hearken to these words: Come and return to the Lord. 

For after two days He will revive us (quicken us, give us life); on the third day He will raise us up that we may live before Him. (Hosea 6:2)

There is a time and a season to everything you are going through. But God promises us His plan of restoration. After two days He will revive you and on the third day, He will raise you up. We must come to learn the process of God. 

If we continue to look at our wounds and ask God why, we miss the point. God is waiting for us to look to Him, to acknowledge Him as our Healer, as our Savior, as the only Person we truly need. 

Yes, let us know (recognize, be acquainted with, and understand) Him; let us be zealous to know the Lord [to appreciate, give heed to, and cherish Him]. His going forth is prepared and certain as the dawn, and He will come to us as the [heavy] rain, as the latter rain that waters the earth. (Hosea 6:3)

God can allow us to lose everything, ourselves included, only so we can find it in Him. 

You may have had your finances torn, your marriage torn, your health struck down, but today, the Lord wants to begin to heal you, to restore you. 

Child of God, today I want to encourage you, if you have not yet called on Him today, get some time and just lift up your heart, lift up your arms, and lift up your voice. Tell Him how much you need Him. Acknowledge that He is the Lord of your life. And you can be certain that as surely as the rain comes to water the earth, the Lord shall come to you. But He’s waiting first for you to come to Him. 

Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you…(Psalms 34:11)
